Cabin Adoption Options

MULTIPLE FAMILY ADOPTIONS:
Cabin Adoption is not limited to only one family. Two or more family members or families can share in a cabin adoption. We do require that only one family be the contact for the 25-year priority booking arrangements.

FUNDING OPTIONS:
The most common way for Cabin Donors to fund their commitment is by sending a cash or check payment to the YMCA of the Rockies. Another good option is to give marketable securities to the YMCA of the Rockies in the amount of the commitment. If these marketable securities are appreciated, the Cabin Donor may avoid the capital gains tax by giving the securities directly to the YMCA of the Rockies. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS:
Typically, Cabin Donors fulfill their entire commitment in either one or two payments. However, we now offer the option of spreading cabin adoption costs over three to five years. Please contact our Chief Financial Officer, Scott Pope, for further details.

Cabin Adoption Benefits

1) For a 25 year period, the donor and their immediate family receive priority to rent the cabin. Length of rental time is unlimited.
2) For a 25 year period, the YMCA of the Rockies maintains the cabin and pays all taxes and insurance.
3) When an adoption takes place, the cabins are completely renovated.
4) Donors receive a tax deduction for a large portion of the adoption fee.
5) Donation fees can be spread over time (up to a five year period).
6) Donations can be made by cash, check or marketable securities, which can result in additional tax benefits.
7) Cabin adoption is not limited to only one family. Two of more family members or families can share in a cabin adoption.
8) For additional fees, further cabin amenities can be donated such as handicapped accessibility, more decking, etc. These arrangements are made with each Center Director at the time the adoption contract is signed.

*Currently, ALL cabins have $6,000 deducted from their donation which is allocated to the priority benefit and is not tax-deductible.
